Sea Captain

By Alanna Fox (c) 1998

Murky green waters
SLAP
Wooden planks
Thunder rushes through
Black-night sky
Wind howls in weathered ears
Twists white beard in knots
Beaten old face
Braces against tomorrow
Yet,
Shields itself from
Past
Wrinkles threaten
To tell their story
Lips pressed hard
To hold them back
Yellow teeth
Bite
Antique pipe
Grayish eyes stare
At sea-mist swirls
Sting with salt air
Twirls of uncertainty abound
Sirens Call
His
Only
Love
Now
