1957 Sony TR-63

This 6-transistor Sony radio is the reason why nearly everything electronic in your home is made in Japan and not in America. When Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo, Ltd. exported its "Sony" TR-63 transistor radio to the United States in 1957, sales were so brisk that the company decided to rename itself after its line of transistor radios: "Sony." The rest, as they say, is history -- and especially so for the U.S. consumer electronics industry...
