Curriculum
Project SEED works with districts and schools to support the teaching of the baseline mathematics topics by the development and teaching of targeted advanced mathematics curriculum. Project SEED's curriculum is designed to challenge students in a rigorous academic way and to extend student's knowledge beyond the required material for a particular grade level in order to provide a foundation for the student's future academic career. Project SEED mathematics curriculum draws from topics such as group theory, abstract algebra, number theory and calculus, among others.
By creating a curriculum that is a level
above the students's expected level of knowledge, all students then start on a level playing field in their ability to be successful. By tailoring it to support curriculum goals of teachers and schools, the Project SEED curriculum shows teachers ways to extend the curriculum they teach and it enrichs the students' understanding of their baseline materials. The Project SEED curriculum also introduces students to material that the students will be expected to master in upper level mathematics in high school. Success in these high school courses, including algebra, geometry, and calculus, promotes students chances of enrolling in college and successfully graduating.
