She lists Michael Palmer, Leslie Scalapino, Carole Maso, Denis Johnson and Hannah Weiner as contemporary poets important to her, and T.S. Eliot, Djuna Barnes, Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, Franz Kafka and Mina Loy as writers of yesterday she admires.

Marjorie Perloff and Anna Balakian are the critics she considers important.
