David Shohan, Poet

Shohan lives at 238 Mott Street, New York, NY and can be reached by phone at (212) 219-2021 and by e.mail at dshohan@waonline. He was born in New York City 22 March 1958. He describes his occupation as "aly impaired (weekend wp)" He has a BA in philosophy from SUNY, Purchase, and has spent time at Uni Konstanz, [West] Germany; Yeshiva, Jerusalem; New School Grad Fac Phil (which he "couldn't take" and "was heartened to hear that Dorothy Allison couldn't take it either") and T. Schreiber Studio-- for "acting, directing, play righting."

Re:religion, he is unsure. He feels he is "Not a[n a]theist, per se, but with definite religious leanings and hankerings after lotus blossoms and wheeling spirits. This, in fact, might be a good entry in the "vocation" field. A sort of wanderer whose time's divided, against--or, at least, not according to- -his will, between May fields and ash heaps." He describes his political slant as "Left to insensed left but with closeted center/right tendencies to want power to favor my comfort. I regard this with some discomfort-horror, wonder how to change it. This may suggest something about the characteristics you asked about in the immediately preceding field."

No publication credits yet (October 1997) but obviously that won't be the case for long.

Among the things he's composed is a collection called Verses from an August Song.
