This was the first, best cover I did for the weekly before we left the Creative Loafing sydnicate. After a couple of handdrawn or clumsily manipulated designs in Photoshop on previous covers, I had enough confidence to try this entirely in Illustrator. We eventually added headlines and subheads, but the original image is a stronger statement without accompanying blurbage.
