The annual summer issue is a catalog of events and locations for area residents, and it usually runs with an art theme. The editors were at a loss about packaging it this time, and I suggested the alien theme and then came up wth the headline a little later. That energized the project. It was given a direction and tone. The cover and inside art were made in Illustrator -- an application, like Photoshop, I was learning on the job. The aliens are seen inside bowling and go-carting and picnicking, but becuase I had the character templates created, the various spot illustrations didn't take that long. This was the largest project I had attempted at the time, and I'm still happy with the end result.
