Dear AMS,

Am I right in thinking that the 'W' of SuzW is the exact diagrammatic representation of a furl-turned sheet steel, cantilevered sub-structure capable of withstanding pressures of up to four million kilobytes per square inch, or is it something else I'm thinking of?

Thank you,

Clive Drearden-Smedly III

Dear Clive,
Well, what an eagle eye you have. My W is in fact the exact diagrammatic representation of a furl-turned sheet steel, cantilevered sub-structure, BUT, and this is very important, it is NOT capable of withstanding pressures of up to four million kilobytes per square inch. So please don’t ask to use it to build a bridge or anything where several thousand tons of concrete and steel will be resting on it and millions of cars with men, women, children, and pets will be carried across it each year. It’s just not that strong.  On the other hand, if you were thinking of using it for a tiny cardboard model of a bridge, with little paper people and cars and water beneath it, then I’m sure we can work out some sort of deal. And may I add that your III is an excellent mini representation of the vertical, simplistic beauty of the roman columns as seen in the ruins of the Forum or doric and iconic columns of the greek Parthenon.
