Welcome to the tiki dome
What is a TIKI MUG? Glad you asked. The Tiki Mug is an artifact of post WWII American culture. A tradition of serving exotic drinks like Mai Tai's or Singaporo Slings in strange and beautiful wood and ceramic mugs was started by Hawaiian and Asian themed resturants. This activity still goes on today. MyTiki story is very similiar to thousands of others who seek theTiki. I found my first mug at a thrift shop when I was about 18, but that wasn't my first exposure to the Tiki, oh no. The infamous 2-part Brady Bunch episode in Hawaii is my first memory of the Tiki and I have never been the same. So, sit back and click through a small part of my 150 plus collection. Each thumbnail below will bring you to another page with a bigger image and more info on each of the mugs here.
I'm always looking for new mugs and would like to buy or trade mugs with other Tiki folks. Drop an E at weaverworks@netscape.net
TIKI LINKS
These are my two favorite TIKI sites.
THE TIKI NEWS is the place to go for all things Tiki. Otto and the crew have a great, very informative site that will have you sipping grog and pounding bongos in no time flat. A must.
Baby Doe is Obsessed! is the first site that I ever saw tiki mugs on. She has a very cool and thorough Tiki Mug section, but don't stop there, check out the entire site. A great place to get links.
