An image that ,according to me , represent Shangai very well : The "old" and the "new" living well together

There are new developments areas all around the city (Pudong is one of the most famous) thanks to the fact that all the area is considered a "Special Economic Zone" having special Status ; a policy to actract Foreign Investors.
In all cases , anyway , there has been an incredible fasth growth.

I like to add a comment about the people of Shanghai.
They are famous all over China to be especially "smart" and I have to admit that they are somehow special.
Probably due to the fact that this city has been a port exposed for long time to many different cultures ( Unlike almost all China always remained closed to foreigners) the people are like more open minded and to interact with them is pleasent and rewarding.
The following series of pictures has been taken in the "Old City" where Chinese live still in a very chinese way and stile.
Walking through this area makes you feel like all the modernity , which is very evident in other part of the city , never really reached here.
These contrast and contradictions make of Shanghai a place unic and worth to visit.
In the special case I have been a guest in this family without any previous arrangement. I was just asking some informations and I found myself invited for lunch
