Book Reviews

bib·lio·phile : noun; a lover of books especially for qualities of format; also : a book collector
Etymology: French, from bibli- + -phile
Date: 1824

Yes, I admit it. I am a bibliophile. Yes, I know it's a dirty secret that I really shouldn't mention in front of small children and in polite company, but I can't help it. Not only am I a bibliophile, I'm PROUD of my bibliophalic tendencies...

Oh my! That sounded a lot worse then I meant for it to be!!!

But it's true. I love books. I love books to the point where I would rather read a bad book then watch "good" television. Before bed, I read at least a few chapters before feeling comfortable enough to fall into a peaceful sleep. Hardly a day goes by without having my soft fingers caress the spine of a well loved book, or inhaling the scent of ink and yellowing pages. It is an addiction, and one I will not give up...

And it can be anything! While I admit getting stary-eyed over good science fiction, and have a secret love affair with romance novels, I also have a mysterious adoration for mysteries, a strong drama or suspense makes my heart pump. I read textbooks, magazines and how-to books. And at times where I find myself without having a book nearby, I have been known to read the labels of toothpaste and cereal boxes too soothe my addiction...

But...

But...my greatest love is to DISCUSS books with other people. I love tearing apart plots and characterizations and loopholes in reasoning. I love discussing the joys of reading certain chapters and the horrors of forgetting an ending. This, is my greatest downfall. To discuss books. I can wax poetic about Alexander Dumas for hours, and spend just as much time discussing Danielle Steele. It is the sharing of ideas. The different viewpoints of a reading and being read, that brings the ultimate joy to my heart...

With the invent of the Internet, I find that my circle of bibliophiles has grown, and ideas have grown, concepts argued. So, join me and my addiction and share your love of books with the world...
