"I think that Magic Johnson is the greatest name of all time. Why? Think about it...! This painting was commisioned by Maria Conner of Bishop Conner Productions who had attended a few of my early shows. She decided she wanted one of my paintings and told me to paint who ever I wanted. Magic Johnson, at that time, had just learned of his being HIV positive. He was one of my childhood role models, and this image was taken from a newpaper clipping of the last game Magic was supposed to ever play. It just se like an appropriate subject matter." |
