If you're looking for Israeli history you won't find it here (though it' very interesting).
Here I will concentrate in Life in Israel from my eyes (a 17 year old girl born and living in Israel). Before reading the following you must keep in mind that what's written here is my personal opinion.

Living in Israel is very different from other countries for a few reasons all warped around one thing- Judaism. First of all Israel Is the only Jewish country in the world, though there are other religions living here, this is the only official home for Jews. Another thing that makes Israel different is the population structure that contains people that are originally from all over the world, from different cultures that mix together and become together the Israeli "culture". Many things in our every day life are affected by the Jewish religion. For instance- the official weekend is on Saturday and doesn't continue on Sunday like in many European and American countries. The one thing that connects all those different people is Judaism.
The Israeli community contains mostly Jews, Arabics, Christians, Bedouins and Druse people.

The main things in my mind, as an Israeli, is the endless conflicts: between the Religious Jews and the non-religious Jews, between the Israeli Jews and the Israeli Arabs and of course between Israel and the Arab countries (not all of them).
In Israel many people are very involved in politics and that brings to more conflicts inside our community. I thought of mentioning this fact because it seems to me that in other countries people aren't involved and don't take much interest in politics as is here. Perhaps the size of the country makes a big difference.

With all this hostility I just told you about you must think that living in Israel is like living in the middle of a war but the truth is quite the contrary. Sure, we do have our share of crime, but what democratic country doesn't?!

I'm proud to be an Israeli most of the time and although it may not be the best place in the world- This is my one true home for now, and I don't think I could feel as safe and as belonging in any other place in the world.
