George E. Todd - BIOGRAPHY

George E. Todd The British photographer George E. Todd grew up in London. He hoped to study art and won a scholarship to train in the graphic arts, but the second world war intervened. This put an end to his studies and he enlisted in the Royal Air Force. His love of art turned into a love for mechanical things, which led to an almost life-long career in the aviation industry.

In 1972, George Todd moved to Bavaria to work for the German Aerospace Research Establishment. This move completely changed his way of life. The sight of the Alps reawakened his artistic interests, this time in photography. He began to specialize in close-ups of flowers, and developed a penchant for detail and still life photography with medium and large format cameras. Since 1978, he has had numerous "one-man" exhibitions in Europe and in the USA, showing still lifes and impressionistic landscapes as well as pure abstract images. George does not keep his skills to himself. He organises seminars and workshops and recently held two workshops on behalf of Hasselblad.
