George E. Todd - Seminars and Workshops

The story so far.....
1990 - June: This was a VHS-Gilching Further Education Course. "Learning to see photographically" - 2 weeks on the Greek Islands of Lesbos and Chios. Lots of good motifs, food and wine, fun with 12 people who still keep in touch; that’s nice. Later we had an exhibition of participants work.
1991-1992: A series of VHS winter workshops; in Herrsching on the Ammersee. These were devoted to black and white photography, and included instruction on the Ansel Adams Zone System.
1993 - January: Hamburg; At the Hasselblad University - a series of workshops organised by Hassleblad Germany, with guest lecturers. I did the first one specialising in black and white and the Zone System, using Hasselblad’s new camera, the 205 TCC. There were 15 participants. We did two days of practical work including film development.
1995 - June: Massa Marittima, Tuscany; at the Toscana Foto Festival. This was one delightful week in an old wine estate house. I shared this event with Italian Maestro Franco Fontana as guest lecturer. We did lots of photography and practical darkroom work in black and white.
1995 - November: Another Hasselblad Workshop, this time for the photo-group AKF, in Nymphenburg Munich. This was well supported (15 people) and, like the Hamburg workshop, included practical work, Zone System, film developing and printing. The theme was "Fine Art Photography" and concentrated on archival methods.

I did several other VHS-Further Education Courses, and smaller workshops for the Bavarian Farmers Association - but too much to write about here....

All these workshops were conducted in German; I’m looking forward to doing all this in my "mother tongue" English sometime - any offers!

Since then I have spent too long on writing a book about the American Southwest
