getting better

I am late with this entry but want to make it so as not to disturb the flow.

A lot has happened in the span of a month! I started a cardiac rehab program where I exercised while wearing a monitor for the first two weeks. Now I exercise with medical professionals (nurses) present. I started scared and walked only 7 minutes on the treadmill and 3 minutes on the stationary bike. Friday I walked 22 minutes on the treadmill, 10 minutes on the bike and lifted 1# weights, 1 set of repititions. My wrists and elbows are weak and painful but I continue the repititions, hopefully to strengthen my arms and wrists. I feel much better since I started exercising again. Also, I put myself on a modified McDougall diet, eliminating most fat and eating no meat and I have lost 16 pounds! I started seeing a therapist (someone I've seen in the past with whom I am in sympatico)to help me deal with my grief, my fear, my depression. That is going well too. I have great difficulty with psychotherapy. Perhaps having been a therapist, I am too critical. Or perhaps it is because there were such good therapists on the east coast and here, where I live, I can find only behavorists or pill pushers. Diane is different. She takes a holistic approach and is a beautiful, warm caring person. Altogether I am feeling much better.

So I guess June, 98 has been my "turn around" month. I feel like I am going in the right direction. I must stay on track.
