THE EQUIPMENT

In this photograph you can see some of the Equipment I use to cast Aluminum.

In the fore ground the "L" - shaped piece of reinforcement bar is used to scrap the "Scum" or Dross from the top of the Molten Aluminum. The two pronged piece of reinforcement bar is my "Pouring Shank", it's used to pick up and pour the molten Aluminum from the Cast Iron Pot. The Ladle is use to dip small amounts of molten Aluminum, out of the cast iron pot, to cast small objects. The bucket, the fire extinguisher, and the gloves are essential Safety Equipment. The screen, hand rake and hand trowel are used to process the sand for making the molds. And, of course, the Aluminum cans are melted down and recycled.
