CompositionsHere are a few short folk melodies I have composed. In the tradition of Celtic music, most of these are not meant to be played "as written," but are meant to "swing" For example, in Irish-style pieces, straight eighth notes are often played as dotted eigths followed by sixteenths. Each tune is available in four different formats:

	The Coneflower Waltz
A tribute to coneflowers in August's garden and in Diane Bennett's wildflower meadow. The coneflower is perhaps better known as Echinacea, a healing plant. |

	Caravans
A song with middle-eastern flavor. In the 500-Kbyte MP3 file, this haunting tune is played by my duo,   Dobhran ,   in a set with an ancient English dance melody called Goddesses. |

	The Slobovian Washerwoman
A Slavic-influenced dance tune in 7/8 time. Watch out for that "C" section... |

	The Slobovian Fisherman
Another dance tune in modified 7/8 time. Lots of fun with a driving rhythm guitar behind it. |

	A Trip to the Sun
A transmogrification into 4/4 time of the quirky Welsh jig, "Jump at the Sun." |
