To convert the entire World's fiat paper into grams of silver, we must first fix the exchange rates of all those units. This can be done the same way the EU fixed their exchange rates, simply by letting rates float until a certain moment and then BLAM! -- everything is fixed. To prevent speculation, this should be done without warning, preferably on an extended, holiday weekend. It would be good also to retire the old units as soon as possible after that time. This can be done most easily by taking old notes and coins from banks and replacing them with metric silver coins. Eventually all the old fiat units will be gone.
In this table, all fiat units have been valued relative to the US Dollar as of September 29, 1999. They have been converted to grams of silver by dividing the number of grams per ounce, 31.103, by the spot price of silver, $5.60/oz, yielding 5.554107143 grams/US Dollar; this figure is then divided by units/dollar to yield grams/unit.
