The Parking Space
I lay a gentle rose
on the empty parking space
I fold an unfinished poem
and stick it in a special place
I put it in the pocket of my jacket
so close to my heart
I know you'll never read it
because we are apart
the rose lies there
like the parking space is your grave
I wish I had a whole boquet
and more memories to save
but all I have is the space
where my heart now lies
so see the rose from heaven
with your angel eyes
I wish I knew
how to do so much more
but please know that the tiny bud
is filled with love to its core
I take the unfinished poem
and place it in my hands
now I know how to finish it
with all that I am
I know God will help
with the words I want to say
I know God will help us meet again
on a better day
I finish my poem
I look to the rose
I see your beautiful face
in my heartfelt prose
the empty parking space
isn't so empty anymore
it's filling with God's love
mine and more.
