Appearance: Merle is 35, of medium build and height, and she has shoulder length reddish-blonde hair. She is nearsighted from a life spent reading, so she wears glasses sometimes. She tries NOT to look like a typical librarian.

Background: Merle is a poet, linguist, literary researcher and book lover. She works as a librarian and adjunct professor of literature, keeping close to the university to facilitate her constant research. Her special area of interest is medieval literature of western Europe, but she has a broad literary background. She has made one time travel trip to Northern Italy of the 14th century.

Merle was named after a country western star because her parents are big fans of his. She isn't pleased about this, to say the least.

Appearance: Sally is a 25 year old graduate student at the University of Rochester. She is petite, just 105 pounds and 5 feet tall, and she has blond hair and pretty blue eyes.

Background: She is a scientist and a computer specialist. She is an anthropologist and archaeologist, with a strong foundation in the physical sciences. Sally is also athletic, participating in running, swimming and martial arts sports for most of her life. She was a girl scout also, and learned survival, first aid, and leadership skills through Scouting. She has a younger sister with cerebral palsy and has a special interest in the education of the disabled (sense of duty applies here). She has made one time trip to the island of Hispaniola in 1492.

Appearance: George is 21, of average size. He dresses is a blue collar way, jeans and flannel shirts with a leather jacket. He could easily be mistaken for a dockworker except that he is not "beefy".

Background: Professor Tempore discovered this reckless genius working on the custodial staff at RIT. It seems George was snooping around and thought himself something of a smart-ass when he left a note on the Professor's chalkboard solving some obtuse mathematical problem. George does not have the money to attend the school and doesn't meet the requirements for a scholarship so Professor Tempore has taken a personal interest in George to the extent that he lets him help out in solving some of the more tedious mathematical chores. Whenever a calculation would slow down the invention process he just says, "Let George do it!"
