GABON, CENTRAL AFRICA (a small selection of photographs from my Peace Corps service) -- PAGE 1 OF 3

Gabon is a beautiful country located on the western coast of Central Africa in what is generally known as the Congo River Basin. Bisected by the equator, it is comprised mostly of forest and has a population of nice but tough people, a government with a debatable devotion to democracy and given the small population and availability of natural resources, a nearly inexcusable lack of basic health and educational services. The U.S. government sent me there on invitation of the Gabonese government to tell people they should not eat bush meat (i.e. pangolin, bush pig, antelope and the odd gorilla). This endeavor was met with limited success. I lived at the beach, caught fish, taught some classes and had fun.

These photos are displayed without regard to chronology, geography or any other semblance of order. They do not even fully represent what Gabon looks or feels like but rather serve as a summary of the photos I happen to have in digital format.
