Julia Rebecca Marshall, the second youngest Marshall
child, is a quiet, shy young woman who doesn't like venturing far from home. She prefers her studies, both intellectual and musical.
She speaks English, French, Latin, Greek, and Italian. She enjoys literature and history, and is skilled on both the violin and the piano.
Julia is short, just five foot two inches tall, and well endowed. Her waist is slightly larger than she'd like it to be, but it isn't very
important to her. She and her mother are very close. They enjoy gardening together. Julia loves the cocker spaniels, but prefers her
cats. She is a little skittish around horses, but rides well when she is encouraged to do so. At New Year's, 1877, she began to take
notice of young men—both Steven Hewitt and Cole Branden.
When Steven and Grace had a quarrel, Julia had the opportunity to help them through it, but did not. She also attempted to steal a kiss
from an unconscious Cole, but his drunken state caused him to believe it was his wife and he began making love to her. He left town
still somewhat unaware of what happened, and completely unaware that Julia was pregnant. Steven found out about her pregnancy,
and decided to help her hide the truth from her family.
