At the dawn of a new millenium, before the winds sweep away the light of the last thousand years of history, I felt compelled to create a body of work to pay tribute to the billions of human beings that have lived on Earth. I wanted to highlight the work and devotion that these men and women have shown to protect and save life in our end of the universe. Despite their short existence and the dangers they have had to overcome, they ensured that our lives were perpetuated through time and thus reaching the present state.
I also wish to dedicate this work to my sons, Simon and Fran_ois. I hope this will inspire them as they deal with obstacles throughout their lives.
The theme, “Chronology of the Universe” is a story, an adventure in space on board the ship we call Earth, the universe’s inheritance bestowed upon mankind.
Where are we today? According to certain scientific discoveries, two contradicting theses, one being that the universe began 15 billion years ago, the other stating that it is only be 13 billion years old are being debated. Without mentionning the scientists that denie both at the present moment.
This work is not here to deny or confirm either of those theses, but while going through the tale I will be weaving, you will see how history has developed. Of course, some facts have never been proven, while others have been, you will discover that what was created has been done so to placeman in the context of time and space and to understand why humanity is still at a critical state of existence.
Does the future still belong to us? Will we be able to make our planet a burden of peace and light for milleniums to come? Or will we be those that will the existence of life on Earth? Will we witness the victory of nature over man? The hours, the seconds that will lead us to the year 2000 and those that will start the new millenium are unique moments for humanity.
“Chronology of the Universe” is a theme by photographic images, an ode to light. It dresse tables and events that have created life starting with the Big Bang, the birth of the Universe.
