The Darkness Of Black-

A Fragmentary Text of Unknown Origins

(and questionable value)

....please do not judge me before I have said my piece:

I have a clear intention, which I intend to obfuscate with unflinching use of overblown adjectives, a veritable Maelstrom of menacing images conveying two(1 )of the most hidden interpretations of non-Caliphate Thelemic dogma to come forth (2 )in recent decades.

I speak, of course, of that which cannot be spoken: (3 ) that which is as the Veiled Naked (4 ) Brilliance of the Sragath. (5) Sragath, is of course the inverse of Lyxstid , the Ever Multiplying One, the Darkness of Black. (6)

The Lyxstid exist in non-Time, extracting lost moments from those who do not have a properly prepared Vessel to keep them in; the Sragath, dwelling in non-Space seek only to take these lost moments and give them back to their rightful owners. However, this entire operation is reliant upon the Initiated understanding of the Neti-Neti (7 )of Brahmanism, as well as the Xeper (8) of the Setians. The Lyxstid feed, the Sragath salvage, you have neither the proper understanding nor a properly prepared Vessel, and the moment is gone. This is the history of mankinds struggle. We are unprepared to hold what we have, Time passes, and we cannot even remember what we have lost.

The Master Therion, realizing the mechanics of this entire process (9) developed a method for overcoming these seemingly unsurmountable forces.(10 ) Today we call this the Ordo Templi Orientis, but it has lost it's original focus, and is therefore slave to Nostalgia for That Which it Never Knew. The formula of M.S.I.G. (11 )vexed him fiercly, until he tossed and turned and coudn't sleep at night. He turned to Rose and said to her: I've given you all a boy could give you! See my tears for now I'm nearly broke!

A similliar thing happened in the case of an American writer of horrific fiction (12 )named Howard Philips Lovecraft. He realized that while not at all an attractive man, a racist and general freak, he could assure adoration from at least a number of fans by writing strange tales that made little sense but carried within them the seeds of a feverish nightmare.

In the Master Therion's case, he was having money problems, and realized (13 )the value of a free love religon. M.S.I.G. was defeated on it's own terms: More for Less, and lots of sex on the side. Write more than your competitors, and you'll be remembered. If it makes no sense, it must be true.(14)

In Lovecraft's case, he was troubled by strange dreams. In my case, I troubled strange old men when I was young, and am now a troubled old man.

As with both great men before me, I write many volumes of questionable worth, but unlike them I am being reprinted within my lifetime. I write only that which has been revealed to me. Whilst my books are my Vessel, I, like HPL, AOS and AC before me, am the Vessel of an Unknowable IT, a Barge Of Babalon tossed upon a Sea Of Sadness. I Capitalize Strangely and am not bothered by the Laughter of the Lemmings, I am their Shining Sea...

14) The very basis of Chaos Magick, as well as my career.

A note a year later from Fireclown: Please do not misunderstand this parody. Somehow, whilst writing a review of Outer Gateways by Kenneth Grant, this is what came out instead. An interpretation of his work, as seen through the eyes of a non-magician reading Hecate's Fountain, perhaps. Mr. Grant retains my unflagging admiration for his truly astounding body of work. Live long, my man!
