Scenes

Here are some scenes from the local vicinity.  I have an infinite supply of these photos, so the display may change with time.

Mist
Morning mist is typical and famous during fall and winter in the region around Miyoshi.  This is a picture of the mist near the river next to Yanochi  in November.

Weeds
In the fall, these fluffy weeds appear everywhere.  They glitter in sunlight, giving a magical appearance.  After they die, the locals cut them and pack them into bushels to use as fuel.

Stairs
These stairs lead up to the mountainside graveyard (where grandma was recently buried).  The mountain contains the remains of hundreds of years of Yanochi's ancestors, and every house (family) has a plot which they carefully look after throughout the year.

Forest
Something like 70% of Japan is mountainous.  The mountains are full of Japanese cedar trees like those shown here.  Unfortunately, two dimensional images do not give the shifting, 3D effect that walking through the forest actually creates.

Flying Fish
In April and May, huge carp can be seen flying on long poles over all of the houses that have produced male offspring.
