“Sweetheart, come take me to this land by the sea at sunset. Just you and me.” The ocean waves rushing and breaking upon a deserted beach bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun. Not a soul is in sight. Only the dreamy landscape turning duskier by the minute, and the murmurs of the surf swelling and receding as it washes in from the distant horizon. In this land of dreams, the soothing music of the sea rises in mellow, languorous tunes. “Take me to the midnight sea, darling, where the breeze whispers words of love. Just you and me.” The sea sings its love song and opens up a world of wonders, rolling across the beckoning yellow beach sand, and lapping the moss-covered rocks strewn about in their eternal home on the sandy stretch. “Take me there to hear the music of the waves on the alluring deserted beach sand. Just you and me.” In this world of beaches and sea, Song Viet-Dam Giang weaves the theme of love inextricably into the fabric of a romantic setting with highly evocative and suggestive lyrics. Try as I may, I cannot wean myself from the poem’s haunting seductiveness. I cannot take my mind off this midnight scene of love. It penetrates, lingers, rivets, and provokes with the recurring reference to the sandy beach, the couple, the vacant landscape, the forlornness of the night scene, the diffuse atmosphere of love, the yearnings, and the passion. To me the poem is the locus and focus of romance, pure and simple. |
Hãy đưa em....
Hãy đưa em vào giấc mộng chiều vàng.
Hãy lắng nghe khúc tình ca của biển
Ta yêu nhau trong vũ trụ vạn niên
Hãy dìu em vào giấc mộng chiều vàng...

Take Me, Dear, To...
Take me, my love, to the dusky dreamland
Listen, dear, to the ocean its love sing
Let us love in this ageless universe;
Take me, my love, to the dusky dreamland
