Dräger Dolphin or Ray Rebreather Trial Session
Diving
with a semi-closed-circuit rebreather is a whole new way of diving. You
have the weight of a 12 litre cylinder on your back but the air supply to
last equivalent to twin 15 litre tanks. Buoyancy is quite different and so
are the emergency procedures we have to follow. As always, when we are
given something extra, something is taken away. This course consists of an
academic session, a confined water session.
To
participate in this course, you need to be a minimum of 15 years old and
certified as a
PADI
Advanced Open Water Diver or an equivalent
organization. You also need to be
certified to dive with enriched air as gained on the
PADI
Enriched Air Diver course.
During this course you will
learn:-
 |
To develop a practical
knowledge of diving with the Dolphin or Ray Rebreather. |
 |
To dispel some myths
regarding the rebreather. |
 |
To plan, organise and
execute dives safely with the rebreather. |
 |
Emergency procedures. |
 |
Care of the rebreather. |
This try-a-rebreather
course is an excellent way to gain hands on experience without committing
to a full course. The course starts in the classroom doing the academics that you
would normally do on the full course. You then use the rebreather in a
swimming pool covering exactly the same skills as the full course.
If after doing this
experience session you decide to go on and do the full course, what you
have done so far, including the cost, will be credited towards the full
course in your chosen rebreather.
Stop by the dive centre for more information on these and
other courses available today.
