March of the Living 1999 Diary
April 21, 6:00 PM
Hiking is the operative work for today. Okay, granted, this morning we went to a marine base. That was okay, but there wasn't very much to do. We walked around, saw the boats, and that's about it.
But the hiking! That was fun. I liked the first part better than the rest, but it was all pretty good. The scenery here is spectacular. You can see from the top of Mount Carmel (where we were) all the way down. We're at the base now.
Right now everyone is changing for the international MotL meeting. I don't see what the big deal is. It's a casual Bar-B-Q, we don't need to get dressed up.
I was very surprised to realize this morning that we're only halfway through Israel. I know I've said this before, but it feels like much longer.
You know, it's funny. When I was in Poland, I didn't think of home at all, and I do now.
I was thinking today and I thought I'd share it. I was thinking about the difference between Poland and Israel. In Poland, while there were sad moments, there were also happy ones. Israel has been a constant content. In Poland, the sad times were depressing, but the happiness was ecstatic. It's as if we felt everything amplified many times over. Here in Israel we've reverted to a fairly normal way of life. Strange as it may seem, I think Poland was the better part of this trip.
The buy is about to leave, G'bye!
