London 1999 Diary

Thurs., Dec. 16, 1999, 9:35 AM

I have come to realize that Dad and I have very different expectations in hotels. I guess that comes from the facts that:

  1. he travels more than I do
  2. he travels for business
  3. he has more money than I do

But overall, that's a good thing, because I don't need to worry about getting a good hotel, at least by my standards. I'll tell you one thing, though: I'd never stay in a hotel like this while backpacking. Per night, this room is 85 pounds ($210, approx.). No way I could afford that in the foreseeable future. 8.50 pounds, maybe, but not 85. : )

Today, we're going to see that changing of the guards. I'm looking forward to that. I saw some guards already, outside the place where Prince Charles lives (the name escapes me now). They move their eyes, but not their bodies. But you do get the sense that they're looking at you.

Then shopping after that. : )

Until later,
Julie
