27. Joseph Newton⁸ Chandler (Henry Farmer⁷, Joseph G.⁶, Joseph Ii⁵, Joseph I⁴, Robert Jr.³, Robert², John¹) was born in Gumlog Creek, Franklin Co, GA September 7, 1828. Joseph died 1920 in Hood Co, Tx. His body was interred in City Cem, Granbury, Tx.

He married three times. He married Mary Burton in Franklin Co, GA, November 22, 1849. He married Delina J. 'Ilivia' Jones in Elbert Co, Ga, November 4, 1858. Delina was born in Franklin Co, GA circa 1842. Delina died after 1873 in Texas.

At least five children- incl. Thomas , Charles, Joseph, a son & a daughter.

He married Ann Hasseltine Cole in Texas, January 15, 1870.(40) Ann was born in Parker Co, Tx January 1853.⁽⁴¹⁾ Ann died after 1890 in Texas. Her body was interred in City Cem, Granbury, Tx.

Joseph Newton Chandler commanded the Confederate States Army, Co A, 24th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry from August 24, 1861 to September 10, 1864. He obtain the rank of Lt. Col. His 4 brothers served under him. In 1865-67 he moved to Texas and located on the Brazos River, Hood Co, Tx. He was ordained a Baptist minister in 1855 and established many churches in Central Texas. In 1892 he represented his district in the Texas legislature. J.N. Chandler died at the age of 92, having married three times and sired 13 children.
