I'm not quite sure what time it was when we left, but by the time we were almost back to Elizabeth City, the tire on Jerry's car in the rear passenger side blew out completely. | |
As we were pulling to the side of the road, I joked with Jerry that this was the oldest excuse in the book for bringing a date home late, and we both laughed, but we were still miles from town. | |
We got out to assess the damages, and we were about to begin walking to town, when two police officers stopped to help out. The cap was locked, but the last owner had never given Jerry a key. | |
Between the two police officers and Jerry working on getting the cap off, it finally gave way, and we were able to put the spare on, but it was so worn down, that we weren't sure how far we'd get. | |
