HAVOK History

It was January the Second circa A.D. 1996. The first day of college life started. The atmosphere was relaxed, since it was Orientation. Not only that, it also marked the day when the nome(orientation group) started. It was to be called Armant. We came from different schools, mainly comprising of Raffles Institution, Chinese High and Catholic High (guys). Although we hardly knew each other (with the exception of a few friends who had "planned" to "chance" in the same nome).

Even after the end of Orientation, we were an "on" bunch, going out almost everyday for thefirst few weeks.

Then THE amusing incident occured. Some frivolous remarks made by certain guys got the girls worked up, who were upset that some of us had "motives" to switch nomes (the other nome had a particular feminine appeal).

We went out for a session of "clearing up", which actually inspired some of us to think of things like permanent and loyal friendship (nome "spirit"). It served to cement our relations, and it was, in my point of view, the single most important reason for the nome's continued survival till July.

But the most vital aspect was that it actually brought the guys closer together, much more than we realised. We brainstormed on some days on organising outings and stunts to get the girls to stay on. The invisible effect was the growth of unbreakable male bonding. A "brotherhood" you might say.

And so we had remained. Though Armant may have crumbled, HAVOK, the offshoot of Armant, the male faction had only grown stronger. With the inception of this homepage, we hope to share the joy of HAVOKing, as well as let others reach out to us.

I, Tan Ban Horng, am proud to announce the start of the first homepage ever to be put up by an alternative ECA> in Raffles Junior College.
