Space Mountain at Disneyland in Anaheim, California opened for the first time on May 27, 1977. It was sponsored by DASA (Disneyland Aeronautics and Space Administration).
The Mountain is now sponsored by FedEx.
The track is 3,450 feet in length and reaches speeds of 32+ MPH.
Each rocket seats 12 passengers.
Was a "E" ticket ride.
The base of the actual structure is 17 feet below ground level so it would not dwarf Sleeping Beauty's Castle and so it wouldn't dominate Main Street USA. Trees are also used to "hide" the great Mountain.
