United Nations Compensation Commission

The United Nations Compensation Commission (UNCC) was created in 1991 as a subsidiary organ of the UN Security Council. Its mandate is to process claims and pay compensation for losses and damages suffered as a direct result of Iraq's unlawful invasion and occupation of Kuwait. I worked with the Secretariat, or more precisely, with the Verification and Valuation Support Branch. I have often heard it said that the VVSB are a happy bunch. Now, the team has expanded three-fold, and we have grown so much that we now a floor of the building to ourselves (if truth be told, the other departments on our floor moved as well, but that is so less dramatic...)
