About Myself

I come from Batu Gajah, Perak, a small town about 20km from Ipoh. It has enjoyed rapid economic growth in recent years although I would prefer it to be not as busy as it is today. A popular landmark associated with Batu Gajah is Kellie's Castle.

I love music (I play the piano, electronic organ and violin), gardening, travelling, tennis, reading and being with nature. I started my music education with the electronic organ since I was 6. Later, I moved to the piano and violin at ages 9 and 12 respectively. As for musical instruments, I own a Yamaha HS-8 Electone (see/click picture on the right).

I am currently a lecturer at the School of Computer Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang. Please click on the following link to my academic homepage or this link to download my CV.

Before starting my post-graduate studies, I was an Accociate Consultant with the Operational & Systems Risk Management (OSRM) Department of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Kuala Lumpur for 7 months.

I had both my primary and secondary education at the Sultan Yussuf School in Batu Gajah. It is named after the father of the present Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah.

My father is a retired secondary school teacher and my mother is a staff nurse at the Batu Gajah Hospital. My younger brother, Nicholas, who graduated from the Tunku Abdul Rahman College, is a Reliability Engineer with Komag in Penang.

By the way, my christian name is Bartholomew... Bart for short. In Penang, my wife, Angie, and I attend mass at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit at Greenlane.
