He Fled Naked...

6th April 1997

It's 10.18 pm on a Sunday night. Haydn's Trumpet Concerto in E flat major is playing on CD on a PC behind me. The first movement gracefully lively, the second being slow and sweet while the last movement is cheeky and bouncy. Very nice... Do drop by sometime when you're free. I'll let you hear it.

It has been quite a tiring day... I was in my lab from 9 am to 3.15 pm to install some software on my personal PC and also to type some of my Industrial Training report. I then headed back to my house to do house duties. Everything else that happened after that was pretty much the same as Palm Sunday evening - a visit to the Maukah? Maukah? Bookshop, a 'movie' at Pawagam SFX and some A-go-go at Come Come (Lai Lai supermarket). I am hunting for pots and pans for my apartment where I'll be staying next semester. They come in handy also when burglars start 'kay poh cheeing'... just give them a good whack with one of the pots... Oh, yes, before I forget... I had a Slurpee when I got back to campus. Ayeii... I'm so happy... Slurpee... Yipee!

With reference to the subject of my mail, if I'm not mistaken, the Passion of Jesus Christ according to Mark read on Palm Sunday, Chapter 14:51-52 reads:

51 A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him,
52 he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.

Surely, as insignificant as these 2 verses may seem, they must have some importance for them to be part of the Gospel. Personally, these 2 verses intrigue me. Why was he just "wearing nothing but a linen garment"? Why run away naked? Do you know the meaning behind them? Do share your thoughts and insights. Actually, this question was brought up by yours truly over dinner yesterday after mass at Fr. Murphy's house.

Okay, I have to go. My legs are now aching from all that walking. Maybe I should hang them upside down so that all that blood can get back to my brains... Until then, take care and God bless.

Yours garmently (whatever that means),
Bart
