When the fields are covered with snow and ice, When the woodman's axe rings loud and clear To startle the squirrel and wandering deer. When frozen solid are lake and stream And skaters make merry and bonfires gleam, There are gorgeous sunset, and snows that fall And pines that whisper, and winds that call. There are wonderful days when the whole world smiles And the sun is shining for miles and miles; There are lights that beckon, and fires that glow, When the world is shut out by the falling snow. You may have you south with its sunny clime, But give me Maine in the winter time. |
