As there are too many to list here I won't bother with an in-depth discussion of each novel. Instead I'll go for an overview of the series.
The Story
Set on the planet of Pern, the series charts the exploits of the decendants from the first settlers from earth two thousand years on. Society has gone back to a much earlier form, in historical terms the time when villages tighed their produce to a fort etc. Some of the stories are repeated from another character's point of view eg. Menolly in 'Dragonsong' etc.
First Impressions
On the whole the series is not bad, if you just want a quick taste of what Pern is about'Dragonflight' serves as a good introduction, it can stand on it's own as a novel goes. The series does, however provide new insights into the people of Pern but it is a series and can become a bit much to get through. There is still no sign of the series coming to a conclusion. Don't get me wrong!, I'm not slating Anne's work but you can have too much of a good thing!
This is another book which has managed to repeat itself in slightly different forms. So I will avoid repeating myself!
