Neither is it merely mental discipline or a source of mental solace. It is not a search for
something vague; even less is it a way to escape reality.
The Soka Gakkai International is a Buddhist lay-person organization founded in 1930 by
Tsunesaburo Makaguchi. Through it's history(which I will not get into here at the moment,
as it's history can take up several pages in a book), the Soka Gakkai have followed the
teachings of the 13th century monk Nichiren Daishonin. There are many facets to SGI, the
foremost of which is it's dedication to peace, culture, and education.
