On Saturday 28 March 66 dedicated golfers ventured
into the night with their balls glowing. |
|
This was the second Round Table J &B "Night
Golf" tournament to be hosted in Phikwe and once
again proved to be a roaring success. |
The emphasis of the evening was strictly to have fun,
and fun was certainly had by all. |
A number of golfers became very good friends with a
few blue sambucca bottles when they struggled to hit the
ball off a hosepipe whilst standing on a truck tyre.
Others were more than amenable to a wager on the 11th
hole after a couple of "Tequila Slammers". |
Jim Swallow tried to change the rules a little but
decided that it is indeed better to hit the ball with a
golf club rather than your stomach and Angie Formanovich
who has not been seen since Saturday night is believed to
be still looking for his ball. |
In the mixed competition Athol Boothroyd and Francey
Varkevisser enjoyed the game so much that they played
twice as much golf as anyone else. They were rewarded by
the main sponsor, J & B, for their labours. The
competition results were as follows :
|
MENS COMPETITION :
- 1ST PRIZE - G.Wilson & K. Pieterse
- 2ND PRIZE - R. Bradford & G. Nicholas
MIXED COMPETITION :
- 1ST PRIZE J.Rech & V. Boxshall-Smith -
- 2ND PRIZE M. Hehir & M. Hehir
Round Table would once again like to thank the
sponsors, J & B, Jedex International, Phikwe Auto,
Process Automation, and QSV. Thankyou once again to the
Phikwe Golf Club Committee, and to all the players who
dared to brave the darkness.
All proceeds from this event will go to community
service projects.
