Mendenhall from Afar

Our longest time ashore was spent in Juneau, and for good reason: the sights were spectacular. The city is not far from one Alaska's most famous attractions, The Mendenhall Glacier.

My day started early with a biking tour of Douglas Island from this shot of Mendenhall was taken. Although it's difficult to see in this photograph, the glacier is rather dirty looking, and the sea is rather muddy. This is because the glaciers carves away the rock and earth as it makes its way to the ocean, where it deposits the soil.
