Alaska Fireweed

One of the most common flowers in Alaska, the red Fireweed is said to be the first plant to return after a forest fire. It blooms from the bottom of the stalk up towards the time. Locals claim you can tell the time of the year by measuring the height of the bloom on the Fireweed.
