MY LIFE - JULY 1999

I didn't actually go to any fireworks show this year. It just didn't seem worth it. It's 9:30 at night and the temperature's still up at around 85-90°. I'm not going to sit outside with thousands of other people watching a fireworks show in that kind of heat. I'm going to either sit inside in front of a fan or ride in my car where there's at least a breeze blowing in the windows to keep my relatively cool.

So I didn't go anywhere. I saw fireworks. You can see plenty of them as you drive around, whether they be regular shows or those being set off in the backyard of someone's home. There were some pretty spectacular ones going off too. Not just at the shows, but from people's yards. It was amazing some of the stuff I saw going north on I-71 then east on I-90 through the downtown region.

However, I wish I could've found a few people and gone to a show, rather then spend the holiday driving around.

It's still hot, it's still humid, and everyone's starting to get a little tense. My family, for whatever reason, has a very short fuse when it's this warm. My mom's quick to yell and my sister Teresa is very rude at times and just does nothing at all aside from watch tv, play on the computer, or sleep. I'm on vacation meanwhile, but am expected to do more anyway regardless of the fact that I'd just like to rest a little bit.

In any case, I was nominated to go into Cleveland to get a little money from my dad yesterday, which didn't sit well with me because I just don't really want to have anything to do with him at all. But I did it. He gave me a check for groceries and I left a little later on to go actually buy those. However, my mom had given me $80 just in case, so I used that and then gave the check to my mom. It proved to be an interesting move.

It turns out that earlier, while I was still in bed, he came over and took the check back, since we weren't going to do him any favors. He did it quickly since he apparently didn't want me to wake up and come downstairs. He had a few words for my mom in what seemed to be a continuation of last night, when he called and then hung up on my mom. Then he calls back and makes it sound like she hung up on him. I had the good mind to ask him why he hung up on her. Chances are, he would've hung up on me, which would have been a dumb move anyway since I would be more than happy to call him back a couple hundred times.

It amazes me what goes on in his head. He still seems to think that my mom "buys" our opinions with animals and other things. He seems to think that we disagree with him only because she does, which is a major insult to me. He makes it sound like I can't, and won't, think for myself, which is exactly the opposite of how it is. He can't accept that I have my opinion and that I really am pissed at him. As for my mom buying animals for our views, the only animal I own is my white cat Kisa, and that was because I agreed to it. She's my only pet and I'll be damned if he's going to say that I was "bought" with her.

He's seriously messed and needs help, but won't get it because he doesn't think that he has a problem. If he does, he pins it on my mom or on me. And he wonders why I despise him.

Anyway, it's the Fourth of July. Happy holiday everyone and have a safe weekend. Be careful in that heat as well.

Last Game
Kansas City, 10
Cleveland, 9

Summary
The Indians' offense came up just short and the bullpen again failed against the hot Royals hitters as the Indians fell, 10-9. Jermaine Dye hit two home runs and drove in six of the Royals' ten runs while Mike Sweeney continued his amazing run, driving in a run for the thirteenth straight game, an American League record. In the ninth inning, pitcher Jeff Tam received some very tough breaks on the first two batters, jamming both of them but giving up bloop hits. In the bottom of the ninth, the Indians made a run at the Royals as Manny Ramirez finally connected on an outside pitch for a two-run home run, giving him 88 RBI's on the season. But with two outs, David Justice bounced out to first, ending the game.

Game Notes
The Royals earned a split with victory, going 4-4 with the Indians over the last two weeks, but lost the season series, 4-6 as the Indians came from behind in all six victories, victimizing Terry Muser and his bullpen....Travis Fryman may be out two months after colliding into the Royal's first baseman, injuring his knee. Fryman had just come off the disabled list with a bad back, his first trip to the disabled list....The Indians brought up Jacob Cruz and Alex Ramirez from AAA Buffalo and are considering moving Jim Thome back to third base.

Record
53-28
