What an interesting day it was at work. Got in at 1:30 (on time for once this week) and was incredibly relieved to see that Crystal was doing okay. She was smiling, having fun and just seemed to have the whole fiasco of the weekend behind her, at least for now. She wanted to tell me a bit about what happened, but neither of us really found time to talk. She did talk to me about a few things, but I don't think she's really ready to talk about her mess. She probably didn't want me to start worrying again either since I've been in a very good mood for the last two days.
My schedule for next week has changed about five times now, most of those changes occurring on Monday when Debbie and Mike are both off. The dilemma there is Lenny would have to open up, which is why he originally scheduled me for the night shift. Then that changed to the morning shift, then back to the night shift, and now back to the morning shift. I have to be there in the morning simply because Debbie's going to be off and I have to work in the pharmacy. Lenny will more than likely have to leave early in the day, then come back to close the store down, otherwise there won't be anyone in management there.
In three weeks, I get to work all day shifts and might even have to work six days because Debbie will be on vacation from August 15-20, so I will be unavailable to close that week. I don't think that will be that big of a problem, although I've been known to be wrong before. I do know that I'm perfectly capable of closing at night now and I feel I have started to get the hang of the whole thing. Took me half the time to count out the funds and the drawers tonight than it did earlier this week.
I'm also the store's third shift supervisor. What that means is that I have the ability now to get change, close the store, and do a variety of management jobs. The only thing that I'm not looking forward to is having to tell people what they should be doing. It's just not a strong point of mine right now. I should be okay though. It's not like this stuff is rocket science or anything. I still need practice though.
I could have a new car by this weekend. My mom and I talked to a guy my grandfather knows who works at Merrick Chevrolet in Berea. We're going to try and go down there on Thursday, but we should be there by the weekend without any problems. My mom has agreed with me that maybe I might be better off with a new car, but I know that like me, she has her doubts and hopes that we can get a good deal on a car, possibly a new Cavalier.
In any case, I need a car because I'm not about to pay $600 for brakes all around on my car, especially considering the car isn't worth nearly that much. If I do get a new car, I want it to have at least a tape deck in it because there's no way that I'm going to be able to put a CD player into a newer car. When I do get a new car, I'll more than likely give my CD player to my mom for use in her car or any car that she might get herself. I guess we'll just have to sit and see what happens.
I have an orientation at Cuyahoga Community College tomorrow at 5:30 to get me introduced into the school. Then I'll be registering classes and will be all set for fall. I'm vaguely curious over what might be said tomorrow and I'm certainly getting a little antsy about still having to go to school, although not nearly as much as I did in high school....My prayers are with San Antonio Spur Sean Elliott, who needs a transplant in order to avoid getting any sicker in the future. Talk about guts. This guy's played with this condition for years....Congratulations goes out to Keith, our former intern who's now a registered pharmacist with CVS/pharmacy. I got to work with him last night and he seemed like he'll be just fine on his own. Cool guy too. Proud of you Keith. Good luck from everyone at store #4300.
