Nick pulled his truck into his driveway. His parents Suburban wasn't in the driveway. "Damn I'm late." "Told you going to McD's was a bad idea." Brian said, getting out of the truck. Nick nodded and grabbed his bag of food, heading to the back. BJ was sitting on the deck reading. "Nice of you to finally show up." she said seeing her brother. "I know I know I'm late. When did they leave?" "Ten minutes ago. Mom was not happy. Hey B." "Hey Beej." Brian smiled at her and sat down at the patio table. "Think they'd mind if I stuck around?" "You just want to meet a new girl." Nick said, sitting down on the steps. "What's wrong with that?" "Nothing I guess. But man why you want to meet Lis?" "What do you have against her?" Brian asked, he'd never seen his best friend so against a girl before. "She didn't like him back." BJ replied before Nick could say something. "Nicky liked her?" "I was nine ok." Nick said his face turning red. "Nine and madly in crush, but I don't think she enjoyed the frog putting put on her head." BJ said laughing. "He didn't?" Brian asked laughing. "He did. Then there was the fake spiders in her sleeping bag..." "BJ! Enough." Nick said, shooting his sister a warning look. "Ok ok. Mom said she's bringing her friend with her, maybe their gonna gang up on you." BJ laughed and headed inside the house. Lis stood back and watched her mom hug Bob and Jane. Hannah set her carry on down and looked around. "They didn't bring Nick?" she whispered to Lis. "Thankfully not." Lis replied, running a hand through her hair. Jane looked over at Lis and smiled. "You've grown up so much!" She said giving her a hug. "Well it has been eight years." Lis replied, forcing herself to sound cheerful. "So true. Nick is really looking forward to seeing you." Jane picked up Lis' bag. "I bet he is." Lis muttered, following everyone outside. They climbed into the Carter's suburban and drove off. Brian stood up when he heard a car in the driveway. "Their here!" he said in a sing song voice. "Grow up B" Nick said, walking away from him towards the driveway. He got there in time to see all the doors open on the Suburban and his dad and Danny unloading suitcases from the back. Jane saw Nick and waved him over. "Here Nick you can take the girls bags." Lis and Hannah froze on the other size of the suburban for two very different reasons. Lis was dreading seeing him while Han wasn't sure she'd be ale to stop herself from screaming. "Yeah ok." Nick said, looking for the girls. He heard whispering voices on the other side, a smile spread across his face. Give Lis a little surprise. He looked down at the bottle of ice water in his hand and smirked, heading to the other side. "Guess I'll..." Lis stopped seeing the tall blonde walk around the vehicle. Han turned around and stared at Nick. Nick stopped, his eyes fixed on the two girls in front of him. The shorter redhead had to be Lis. He smiled shyly. "Uhm hi, remember me?" Oh nice one Carter, he said to himself. "Nick?" Lis asked in surprise. This goodlooking tall guy in front of her was NOT Nicky Carter. "That's me." He smiled, could he sound anymore stupid? Everytime he was around a pretty girl he ended up acting like a goofball. Brian walked around the Suburban to see Nick and two girls just looking at each other. "Hello. I'm Nick's pal Brian but you can call me Brok." "Cuz I'll be rocking your house." Hannah said silently and almost laughed. Lis elbowed Han since she was giggling. "Hi Brian, er Brok...I'm Lis and this is Hannah but call her Han or wacko giggler." she gave Han a funny look. "Nice meeting you girls." Brian smiled, he could see what Nick had seen in Lis years before, beneath the 'I wish I was anywhere but here' exterior he could tell she was a fun girl. Nick snapped back to reality. "I'm so I'll take your bags in, your room is right next to mine." "Wow really." Lis said sarcastically. "Be nice." Han and Brian said at the same time then looked at each other and laughed. Jane walked around the front of the Suburban. "Guys do you want to take the bags in? We're going to start the barbecue in awhile and the girls may want to settle in first." "Right mom." Nick said, heading for the back where the suitcases were. "I'll help." Bri volunteered. Lis and Han just stood there watching the guys. "I just want to thank you and your parents for bringing me on this trip." Han said happily, watching Brian walk away. "Han, you have a boyfriend remember? Brandon, nice blonde guy? Real sweetie who's probably missing you like crazy at this very moment." Lis said to her friend. "I know but I can look can't I? Come on!" Han grabbed Lis' arm and dragged her friend towards the house. Nick and Brian watched the giggling girls disappear inside the house. "So that's your nine year old crush." Brian said, taking a suitcase out of the back. "Uh huh." Nick answered, his eyes still on the girls. Brian hit Nick in the back of the head. "Nick man hello?" "What? Sorry B I just..." "Your just in crush all over again." Brian laughed. "Am not!" Nick said defensively. "Oh yeah Frack you are." Brian shook his head. Nick grinned. "If I am then your all wet" He smiled innocently and dumped his water over Brian's head. "Oh that was unfair!" Brian looked down at his soaking clothes. "But you admitted it." Nick shook his head and headed for the house, carrying the girls bags.![]()
