Dana walked through the sliding doors of 'The Pavillion Hotel'. She was stopped by a large security guard. He stopped her from going any further. "Excuse me miss, I'm afraid I cant let you in unless you have a pass" "Oh...but I'm-" Just then Dana was cut off by Nick. "It's okay, she's here to see me" Dana was relieved to see him. The guard moved away and let her pass, still looking sceptically at her. Nick led the way to his hotel room. As he opened the door, Dana was looking at heaven. There was a sitting area with HiFi system, TV, video player and computer which was connected to a modem. There was a Kitchenette to the left of the couch and glass doors to the right outlined in cream and gold curtains. The balcony could be seen through them. Through a door on the right Dana could see the end of a King size bed and a very big suitcase full of clothes at the foot of it. They sat on his couch for a while and talked about each of their careers. Dana tried to treat Nick as a normal person, and was succeeding. She felt as though she'd known him all her life. They were so relaxed and spoke to each other like old friends. Nick asked if he could see her music sheets. Dana had already started the song words, and Nick sang it softly to himself. "I Know deep within my heart, that we can make it through, I know we could never part, Oh I really need to be with you.... These are good" he said after a while. "Do you think so, cause I wasn't too sure" "No, you must have put a lot of thought into these" Dana smiled shyly. She knew Josh was her inspiration for all the songs she wrote. Nicks comment made her blush, and she placed her hand next to her cheek to stop him from noticing. "Can I help you finish them" he said. Dana was kind of startled by his question, but she consented and they began to write the rest of the lyrics. As they continued they became even more comfortable with each other. They now sat next to each other on the couch, their sides touching. They had been writing for an hour and felt they needed a rest. Nick offered Dana a drink and they talked about friends and family. For some reason, Dana didn't feel the need to mention Josh to Nick. They were getting along fine and she felt that mentioning Josh may make him feel uncomfortable. "...so anyway that's my story. What's yours?" Nick asked after his long speech on his home, family and friends. " Well there's not much to tell, My parents divorce when I was ten and my brother was six. I used to live with my mom until I moved out into my apartment. I now live with Faith, my room mate and her King Charles Spaniel 'Cookie'. I haven't seen my dad for over seven years now." Dana wasn't proud of telling people her life story. She always told people half the story and never all of it. "Why haven't you seen your dad for so many years?" "um......... well, he's in jail." Dana looked down at her coke can which was on her lap. She could feel Nick looking at her and was afraid to look up." He.. erm.. turned to drink after the divorce and eventually got caught trying to rob a convenience store in town. He shot the guy behind the counter and got jailed for murder." Dana's eyes became glassy. Nick stay silent. She couldn't believe she had just told a person she had only known for a total of two hours about her history. Nick placed his hand on hers, noticing a tear run down her cheek. Dana didn't move her hand to wipe the tear, instead she left it under Nicks'. Still silent, Nick took a handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to her. Dana placed the coke can on the table, to free her other hand, and took the handkerchief. As she wiped her eyes she broke the silence. "I'm sorry. I guess it just gets to me sometimes." "Don't worry about it. Everything's cool, okay?" Dana nodded and looked at Nick. He was looking deeply into her eyes, as if he expected her to say or do something. "What? Do you want your Handkerchief back?" She said jokingly. Nick laughed and shook his head.![]()
