CHAPTER 5

Dana looked at her watch and realised her singing lesson was in an hour.

"So, anyway, I'd better go." She said, standing and gathering her song sheets.

"Oh, okay" said Nick slightly disappointed and confused as to why she would
want to leave so soon. Dana decided to explain herself after seeing his
confusion.

"I've got a singing lesson in an hour and I have to get home to collect some
stuff."

"Oh" Nick sounded relieved that he hadn't said anything to upset her. And as
she put her things into her bag they made their way to the door.

"Dana? Do you, I mean, if your free, do you want to go for dinner tomorrow
night, in the restaurant downstairs. I mean..." Nick was cut off by Dana.

"Nick, I'd love to" She said noticing how nervous he had suddenly become.

"Okay well I'll see you at 8ish then."

They said goodbye and as the door close Dana sighed and put her hand in her
pocket for her keys. But to her surprise they weren't there. She realised they
must be in Nicks room. She went back to the door and knocked.

" I'll be there in a minute." Nick called

As he opened the door he obviously was expecting someone else, because he
casually began to walk aside to let her pass.

"Oh Hi" Nick said, startled to see Dana back so soon. "What is it 8pm already?
Wow, doesn't time fly." he joked looking at his watch.

"Actually I forgot my keys" said Dana laughing at his joke. Nick looked around
and found the keys under the table. He passed them to her, looking at a
particular key ring which said 'Aquarius'.

"Hey your an Aquarius too." He said letting go of the bunch of keys

"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow" she replied clutching the keys to her and
stepping back, she gave a small wave. Nick waved back and closed the door.

Waiting at the lift, Dana let a smile creep across her face. As the door opened
she looked down and walked into the lift not noticing where she was going. She
bumped into someone,

"Oh sorry" she said a smile still on her face.

"That's okay" said the guy. "Hey aren't you the girl at Mac Donalds. The singer
right?"

"yeah, Dana" she stuck her hand out for him to shake.

"Brian" he said taking it, and shaking it gently. "see you around"

He left and the lift door closed behind him. Dana leant back against the lift
wall and closed her eyes. So much was running through her mind she knew she
would never sleep. She had to tell someone. Faith.

Back in Dana's apartment, Faith had just finished her coffee and sat on the
sofa amazed by the day Dana had just had. Faith was silent, and Dana sat with
the biggest smile on her face. Suddenly Faith laughed.

"What? What's so funny?" said Dana, shocked by Faiths out burst.

"Nothing" Faith knew something was about to happen between Dana and Nick. She
felt she should remind Dana of her two year relationship with basketball player
Josh, but she resisted as she didn't want to spoil the smile which lit Dana's
face. It surprised Faith, because she had only ever seen her smile when she
talked about Josh, but now she hadn't mentioned him once all day and yet she
was still smiling.

**********************

There was a knock at Nick's door.

"Hang on" he cried as he came out of the bathroom wrapped in a white towel. As
he casually walked to the door to open it, he stopped. What if it was Dana he
thought. He paused. "Who is it?"

"Me, who else?"

"Oh Brian. Coming" Nick opened the door and Brian was standing at the door with
a devious smile on his face. As he came in he tugged at Nick's towel.

"Nice towel Frack!"

"What do you want?" Nick said with a smile on his face.

"Just to chat"

"About what?"

"Mmm. How about......Dana?" Brian waited for his pal to turn red with
embarrassment and as expected he did.

"I gotta get dressed" Nick exited to the bathroom and Brian leant back on the
sofa after successfully embarrassing his friend.
