1. JANE SAUNDERS: First born to Thomas Saunders and Jane Saunders.
    Born 1795 Co. Kilkenny, Ire., died 3 Nov 1873 Beckwith Twp., Lanark
    Co., Ont. Around 1816, she married George Kidd, born c1795 Co.
    Kilkenny, Ire., died 1821 Beckwith Twp., Ont.
    Jane buried Franktown, Ont.
    George more than likely buried on the farm.
    They had 3 children. Thomas, William and Eliza.

Saunders lived in an Area/District known simply as "Knockalane"

George died just a few months after their arrival in Beckwith.

    According to the Mothel Church Registers, Co. Kilkenny, when daughter
    Eliza was born they lived in Old Leighlin, Co. Carlow, Ireland. (Just
    across the border from Co. Kilkenny).

    Jane re-married c1824 to Samuel Leech/Leach (1798-1874).
    They had 8 children. James, George, Mary, William, Jane, Samuel,
    Sarah and Ellen. This is a big family, so you will find them on their

1. THOMAS KIDD: Born 1817 Co., Kilkenny, Ire., or Old Leighlin, Co.
    Carlow., died 2 Jun 1915, Beckwith Twp., Ont. On the 20 Apr 1846
    he married Clarissa "Clara" Keays/Keys, born 1825, died 23 Feb 1892.
    (d/o James Keays/Keys and Hettie Garland).
    Both buried Franktown, Ont.
    They had 12 children. Eliza, Matilda, Jane, William, James, Esther,
    George, Samuel, Mary, John, Margaret and Richard.

    Thomas was a licensed Inn Keeper 1847-1848 and likely longer. He
    was known as "Tavern Tommy." He later farmed in Beckwith and
    c1890, he moved to Carleton Place, Ont.

(1) ELIZA KIDD: Born 1848, Beckwith Twp. She married Robert
Fleming.

         (2) MATILDA KIDD: Born 1849, Beckwith Twp., died 13 Sep 1911.
              On the 23 Dec 1869, she married J. Wesley Milliken, born 1840
              died 23 Mar 1906.
              Both buried Hillcrest Cemetery, Smiths Falls, Ont.

         (3) JANE KIDD: Born 1851. On the 18 Nov 1879, she married
              Thomas Kidd, born 1844, died 1909. (s/o Thomas Kidd and
              Eliza Garland).
              Both buried ??
              They had 4 children. James, Thomas, Clara and William.

Thomas Kidd was known as "Big Tommy"

         (4) WILLIAM THOMAS KIDD: Born 25 May 1853, died Jan 1925,
              Portland, Oregon. On the 12 Apr 1879, he married Ellen
              Madigan, born 20 Aug 1859, died 14 Dec 1924. (d/o Patrick
              Madigan and Johanna Powers).
              Both buried Portland, Oregon.
              They had 8 children. George, William, Henry, James, Francis,
              Clara, Bertha and Emmett.

William filed on a homestead in North Dakota in 1879. In 1901
they moved to Yamhill Co., Oregon.

(5) JAMES KIDD: Born 1854, Beckwith Twp., Ont.

         (6) ESTHER ANN KIDD: Born 1857, died 3 May 1948.
              Never married.
              Buried Franktown, Ont.

         (7) GEORGE ALBERT KIDD: Born 24 Feb 1858, died 28 Nov 1938.
              On the 12 Apr 1893, he married Harriet Elizabeth Wisner, born
              21 May 1867, Cuba, N.Y., died 14 Aug 1931.
              They had 10 children. Esther, Lena & Leta (twins), Albert,
              Richard, Harriet, Charles, Walter, George and Willard.

George lived in North Dakota before 1893 and in 1901 moved
to Yamhill Co., Oregon at the same time as his brother William.

(8) SAMUEL KIDD: Born 1860, Beckwith Twp., Ont.

(9) MARY ANN KIDD: Born 1861. On the 28 Jan 1896, she married
Robert McCaffery.

(10) JOHN KIDD: Born 1862, died 27 Feb 1894.
Buried Franktown, Ont.

       (11) MARGARET KIDD: Born 1865, died 30 Jan 1958. She married
              Andrew Thompson, born 1861, died 28 Jun 1920.
              Both buried Malakoff Cemetery, Carleton Co., Ont.
              They had 3 children. Clara, Lila and Lena.

(12) RICHARD KIDD: Born 1867, died 1952. Never married.
Buried Franktown, Ont.

2. WILLIAM KIDD: Born 1819, Co. Kilkenny or Old Leighlin, Co., Carlow
    Ire., died 1873 Carrick Twp., Bruce Co., Ont. On the 15 Jan 1893, he
    married Eliza Leach, who died 1849 Beckwith Twp., Ont.
    William buried Balaclave Cemetery, Bruce Co., Ont.
    Eliza's burial place in not known.
    They had 6 children. George, Thomas, Frances, Jane, William and
    James.

William re-married 18 Feb 1850 to Ann Fanning 1824-1906. (8 ch)

William moved to Lot 17 Con 4 Carrick Twp., in 1855.

        (1) GEORGE KIDD: Born 1840 Beckwith Twp., died 1919. In 1873,
             he married Rebecca Berndt, born 1841, died 1922.
             Both buried Riverton Cemetery, Bruce Co., Ont.
             They had 3 children. Mary, John and Melinda.

        (2) THOMAS KIDD: Born 1842. On the 17 Jun 1870, he married
             Elizabeth Donahue, born 1846, died 1872.
             They had 1 child. William.

Thomas re-married 26 Mar 1872 to Sarah Halpenny, born 1842.
They had 5 children. Elias, Enos, Arthur, John and Silas.

They later moved to Manitoba.

             Thomas was known as "Leach's Tommy" as he stayed behind in
             Beckwith and was raised by his grandmother Jane (Saunders)
             Kidd and her 2nd husband Samuel Leach.

(3) FRANCES KIDD: Married Francis Stern.

(4) JANE KIDD: Married Edward Darby.

(5) WILLIAM KIDD: Born 1847.

        (6) JAMES KIDD: Born 1849.
             Also show him born in 1851, thus he would be a child of Ann
             Fanning and not Eliza.

   William Kidd 1819-1873 re-married 18 Feb 1850 to Ann Fanning, born
   18 Feb 1824, died 25 Jul 1906. (d/o James Fanning and Mary Lewis).
   Both buried Balaclave Cemetery, Carrick Twp., Bruce Co., Ont.
   They had 8 children. Susan, Mary, Samuel, Robert, Wesley, Joseph,
   Richard and Albert.

3. ELIZA KIDD: Born 1820, baptized 7 Jan 1821 Old Leighlin, Co. Carlow,
    Ire., died 6 Jun 1884 Carleton Place, Ont. On the 3 Apr 1843, she
    married William Griffith.
    They had 8 children. Mary, George, William, Samuel, John, Jane, Susan
    and Eliza.

        (1) MARY ANN GRIFFITH: Born 1846, died 1932. She married
             Robert Bradley, born 1850, died 1919.
             Both buried St. James Cemetery, Carleton Place, Ont.

        (2) GEORGE GRIFFITH: Born c1847, died 13 Jul 1910. In 1869, he
             married Ann Dillabough.
             They had 3 children. Eliza, William and Mary.

George re-married in 1889 to Jane Burrows.
They had 1 child. Annie.

        (3) WILLIAM GRIFFITH: Born 1855, died 31 Jul 1939. He married
             Sarah Bolton, who died 1895.
             Buried St. James Cemetery, Carleton Place, Ont.
             They had 1 child. William.

        (4) SAMUEL GRIFFITH: Born 1857, died 1958. On the 5 Dec 1883,
             he married Dora Mae Crampton, born 1861, died 1944.
             (d/o William Crampton and Susannah Martin).
             Buried St. James Cemetery, Carleton Place, Ont.
             They had 5 children. Samuel, Florence, Norman, Charles and
             William.

(6) JANE GRIFFITH: Married Peter McEwen.

(7) SUSAN GRIFFITH: Married S. Wilson.

        (8) ELIZA GRIFFITH: Born 1861, died 1918. She married William
             H. Cox, born 1855, died 1918.
             Both buried St. James Cemetery, Carleton Place, Ont.
             They had 2 children. John and William.
