Aside from the obvious number one (THE THING, 1982), the others are not permanently locked into their own respective positions. Rather, think of this list as the movies which have affected me most, depending on their impact in space time, within the continum of my linear life.
Notice that many of these films were theatrically released in 1982, a year long remembered to Sci-Fi fanatics of a certain age as one of the best for Sci-Fi flicks. 1982 was also the year Steven Speilberg's E.T. The Extra Terrestial totally crushed and eclipsed THE THING, therefore making it a flop after barely three weeks at the box office.
Also note that when E. T. will be re-released in 2002 for its 20th anniversary, completelly restored with a new print, I will be boycotting it with all my might, and will try to organise as many 20th anniversary screenings for THE THING as I possibly can!
And now, Onto the show!
